look who's BACK

Guess who's computer has finally decided it loves her camera...mine, that's right!!  Whooohooo!! 

So in honor of my first day back I am going to share my favorite completed project in the house so far!  This is a wall in my living room and I am just loving it these days.

We got the dresser at our favorite antique store and have been adding ever since.  A dresser in your living room is SO practical!  I have blankets, pictures and books stored in that pretty thang and you never even have to look at them! LOVE IT!

(ps-who is that t-tiny baby with angel wings...my soon to be FIVE year old! watch out JD annie will be five before you know it! tear...tear)

A-MaaaAZING!!  Just an added bonus that it actually works!

This Pepsi crate we picked up a few months back at lakewood and I have had it on the cart, but I randomly moved it over to the dresser and I fell in LOVE.  I KNOW being in the ATL we should be representing coke, but sorry guys the red just wasn't working for me.  I have always loved sunflowers and I think they are the perfect addition to the whole shabang!  (sorry the water looks like a hot mess of puke green, i think its the wall color...wait, what does that say about the wall color???)

Hopefully those bad boys are never out of season...ha!

a little bit of THIS and a little BIT of that

After some very LONG hours we finally bought a couch (it was seriously worse than purchasing a car)  How many different ways can we tell you that we don't want the EXTRA protection plan PEOPLE!?!!?!!?!  We should be able to pick it up this Saturday.  It will be so nice to have something to sit on after two weeks of sitting on a pile of blankets. 

FYI...hardwoods are H A R D on your tushie no matter how many blankets you pile up! 

We also scored several pieces at the antique market.  [We love this antique market, if you are ever in the area you should check it out.  There are two buildings and the one across from the Home Depot is the good one! The other building is a bit like a museum, you can look but can't really touch that table for EIGHT grand...heheee] 

We finally got our beloved coffee table. 

LOVE it! 

 We got this one for a real deal! After being quoted six hundred for the first one we found; we scooped this one up for $185 at the booth right around the corner...That my dear is one of the joys of the antique market!  You can compare prices without ever leaving the building! 

Next up we have our lovely end table. 

This was hand made by Southbend Millworks.  We have been stalking admiring their stuff since we found them WAY back when we thought this was going to be our front door.  Since that didn't work out (and we are SO glad it didn't) we had to postpone our furniture buying!  We were so happy to finally make a purchase from them.  They are going to be doing a custom piece for us for the living room as well! More details on that to come.

The finds didn't stop there.  The dream daughter also found a few things she couldn't live without.  This chair is PERFECT for school

 and this will help put a dent in some of the thousands many bags laying on her bedroom floor! 

Plus this is the color scheme (minus the hideous blanket in the background) I would like to do in her room after I find her a vintage armoire and dresser!!

This weekend we will be attending another antique market.  We haven't been to this one in a while so we are stoked.  I am really hoping to score a very LARGE vintage sign for my living room wall.  Preferably metal, rusty and a little dirty.  Hopefully next week we can do a big reveal!

drum roll PLEASE

Finally we have rid ourselves of our TYP furniture that is all matchy matchy.  I am super excited and can't wait to piece an entire living space together piece by piece!  We already have several things in mind but for now I just want to share my new living room...

Those blankets are from our picnic dinner tonight!

 I love the existing color and I already have fabric picked out for new panels for the windows.

On the wish list

• random crate end tables
• lamps (industrial influence)
• pictures ON THE WALL (hello pictures where are you!)

So this is the next extreme makeover!  We are really wanting to create a nice comfy space for entertaining, hanging out, watching American Pickers (if you don't watch this you are seriously missing out).  What we don't want to end up with is another rooms to boredom space because we gave up on the hunt.  That will not happen this time...the hunt is under way my friends!  I will keep you posted along the way.

Before I go I want to share with you my one true love, the inspiration behind the entire living room, the piece I have searched my entire life for...not really but I really do love it!  It makes my heart feel super happy!

Extreme MakeOVER

SO for the first time ever, against my better judgement...I purchased something from ROSS.  I try to steer clear of any stores like this because I don't like the chaos.  I like for stores to look pretty and everything to be in it's place.  This so DOES NOT fall into either of those categories.  But apparently those things it lacks allow items to be CHEAP!  And seeing as how I am in PLAN B mode, CHEAP means more mullah for said plan!! YIPEEE!! 

SO at the above mentioned locale I was able to purchase a few things.  One is my new love, one is for organization and the final is for the dream daughter herself. 

I purchased this

because every dream daughter needs one of these for accessories (as if this is going to hold a fraction of her collection)

However, BLACK is not in her color vocab.  Hence the makeover...

Okay it wasn't extreme but we like to be dramatic.

But seriously some paint and a tutu later, it's the best thing to hit Davis Place in a hot minute! 

Next to my new love which deserves its own post (of course it doesn't need a make over), it is perfect just the way it is!

Christmas REVIEW

I haven't blogged very much about Christmas, but we had a fabulous time.  So I thought I would share a few of my favorite pictures from the HOLIDAYS!

the OFFICE

MY office is finally complete!  However it is dark here by the time I roll back home so I can't get any good pictures, so I thought I would share a few "in process"!

The office is very neutral so we decided to add color with the desk.

We went with an orange that was left over from an old Bronco that Dream Hubby painted.

Couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!

Of course that is my bulletin board finally on the wall.  In the background you can see my fav new bookshelf!  I found it in an antique shop in Senoia...if you haven't shopped this little town you are totally missing out! 

That's all I have for now!  We have changed from cable back to dsl and I have lost and found my "thing" that allows me to upload pics to my computer!  SO hopefully there will be more to come!!

sneak peak...the OFFICE

 One of the first rooms you see when you enter our house is the office.  It is a really cute space and has loads of potential. 

I am super anxious to get it finished.  First up on my list of to do's - a giant bulletin board!  Some place to stick 'stuff'!  I started out with 4 - 2'x2' ceiling tiles

I sprayed them with a color left over from a previous project so the white wouldn't shine through!  I decided to cover them in a brown burlap fabric.  I simply stapled it around the edges.

Next up I started with the ribbon!  Ribbon, Ribbon, lots of RIBBON! 

 [side note - I went with the ribbon approach instead of using push pins due to the fact that I know I would NEVER be able to find a push pin]

I measured 6" on each side and connected the dots!  I used hot glue for all the ribbon.

Once I got one direction entirely done, it basically created the dots for the 'other' direction.   

[I only glued the ribbon at the edges] 

Once all the ribbon was on, I used a wider ribbon around the edges to cover all the uglies.

I decided on these super cute metal letter brads to create the separation at each ribbon intersection.  This is what will keep my junk in it's place. 

My nifty box cutter came in handy to create tiny holes in the ribbon to allow the brads to go through to the ceiling tiles.  [If any of the brads felt loose,  I reinforced it with hot glue]

I really love these little letters.  I even hid each of our names in there for Phoebe to find later!

I LOVE the way it turned out!  Look for the finished product on the wall in my big office reveal!!

• 1 and a little of a second roll of 1.5"x4yds polka dot ribbon
• 100-125 small letter brads
• 1-1/2 yards brown burlap

welcome FALL!

This weekend was beautiful!  Not only because dream dad returned from out of town, but the WEATHER was fabulous!  I could even bust out 3/4 selves...now that's excitement!  Now that it's October the dream daughter and I decided it was time to decorate for fall and a little Halloween!

Here is our first FALL project...

We started with vine balls and sprayed them gold.

Some berries, fall leaves, a few ears of corn, ribbon and a glue gun...

Tied the two together...

hung them over the mail box

and added a scarecrow {from the $ store} on both sides!

We like it...Welcome FALL!!!

the AGENDA

We have been seriously M.I.A. on the blog front lately, but we are trying to get back on board.  So I just rolled back up to my house (10:30 in the P.M.) and wanted to take a few mintues to fill you in on what's going on in the next few weeks at the Davis residence. 

ORGANIZING...

First of all we are still trying to get everything out and cleaned up at the previous place and of course organzing here...I think that goes without saying.  Oraginzing will be on the agenda for quite a while. 

BIRTHDAYS...

Coming up this month (September) we have several birthdays including the dream daughters.  This year she will be turing the big FOUR!  To celebrate we are taking a fam vaca to Disney World.  I just had a wonderful costume made for her to wear to breakfast with the princess' by my friend over at Baby Cakes, I will do a post just for this later this week.  If you want to get a sneak peak you can check her out at her website or on facebook.  Of course we will be having a gathering forthe dream daughter and her friends when we return, I am thinking of a fall/pumpkin theme, so there will be many post soon about that! 

NEW, NEW, NEW...

I have also purchased several new pieces for the house that I can't wait to share!   I found several of the pieces here, my new favorite store in the G-town. 

DESIGN STUFF...

On top of all of that I am currently trying to help a few new clients and come up with a fabulous fall class for my ladies at Sun City. (I didn't forget about you ladies, just taking the summer off!)

Tomorrow after we return from dance class at the dream daughter's new dance studio, I will be sure to sit down and post a picture or two!  Until then...good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!

Almost TWO weeks

Friday will mark two weeks since the big move to our new home.  It has been very eventful to say the very least.  But there isn't much in this family that isn't VERY eventful.  We are loving our new home!! 

We had to spend the last few nights at the parent's house because our AC went out and we couldn't sleep in the heat. Now we have a brand spankin new unit and it's freezing up in here!  I should be back to blogging now and I already have a few lined up. But until I have a little more time to write a good post, here are a few pics of my new favorite piece!
